As fog lifts, the aurora shimmers to reveal
the Dragon Tree. Half animal, half tree, mystical in it's beauty.
"The Dragon Tree is the result of
one of those wonderful visions that came to me in a daydream. My imagination likes to morph things together, in this case
the tree and the dragon. Parts of it are definately a tree and parts of it are surely a dragon, but at different points they
combine to create one creature. The roots of the tree grow the claws of the dragon. The wings of the dragon become the branches
of the tree, maintaining the properties of the dragon's antlers. The dragon's rear legs disappear but the tail remains. The
background was one of those happy accidents that make art so much fun to create. The paint on the aurora borealis was streaked,
so I started to run washes across it and they dried as cloud-like shapes. The Dragon Tree was painted with fluid and open
acrylics on an 18" x 24" hardboard panel."
